WhatsApp to introduce emoji reactions during voice, video calls

California (Web Desk): WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that will allow users to react with emojis during voice and video calls — an effort by Meta-owned WhatsApp to further enhance the user experience.

Currently, emoji reactions are limited to text and voice messages. However, the platform is now expanding this interactive capability to calls, making conversations more expressive.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature is being rolled out in the beta version of WhatsApp and is only accessible to a limited group of beta testers at this stage.

Once available, users will be able to use any emoji during an ongoing call to express their emotions in real time. A dedicated section called “recently used reactions” will also be introduced, allowing users to quickly select emojis they’ve used in past calls.

Since the feature is still under testing, there is no official release date for its global rollout.
