Starlink satellite internet to debut in Pakistan soon

Islamabad (Web Desk): Preparations are underway for the launch of Starlink’s satellite internet service in Pakistan by the end of this year. Sources indicate that Elon Musk may participate in the upcoming launch presentation.

The Pakistan Space Activities Regulatory Board (PSERB) is currently developing a draft framework in line with international satellite regulatory standards. Meanwhile, Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Shiza Fatima, recently held the first workshop with startup associations and other companies. Major firms such as Shanghai Telecom, Amazon, and OneWeb have also expressed interest in registration, but Starlink was the first to submit an application.

Once the framework is finalized, PSERB will officially register Starlink, after which the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will issue its operating license. Sources believe that Starlink’s operations will open new avenues for digitalization, connectivity, economic growth, and revenue generation, with potential expansion of services across Pakistan and South Asia.

Security agencies have been assured that the new service will pose no threats.
