Security forces kill accused involved in Rawalpindi Mall Road firing

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Security forces shot dead a man who opened fire on Mall Road in Rawalpindi, with security sources saying the incident was brought under control after prompt action by personnel at the scene.

According to the sources, the deceased was identified as Muhammad Hussain, a resident of Khyber District, who was associated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The sources claimed that a PTI flag, weapons, ammunition and other important documents were recovered from Hussain following the incident.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar condemned the incident and described it as PTI's politics of violence and disorder.

Commenting on the firing incident in Rawalpindi, the minister said there was no justification for a PTI worker to open fire on a security official.

He criticised the alleged use of violence by PTI supporters and said armed elements had become a recurring feature of the party's protests.

Tarar added that PTI had a history of violent demonstrations and maintained that the party's protests had repeatedly resulted in unrest rather than remaining peaceful.

The information minister also questioned the timing of PTI protests, alleging that they were being organised alongside significant national and international developments that, according to him, were contributing to Pakistan's economic and diplomatic progress.

He claimed that the timing of such demonstrations indicated an attempt to disrupt the country's development and undermine progress being made on the national front.

The information minister maintained that political differences should be expressed through peaceful and democratic means rather than through violence or confrontation with security personnel.
