Security forces neutralize all terrorists involved in Wana Cadet College attack

Wana (Web Desk): Security forces successfully neutralised all militants belonging to the proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij, who launched an attack on Cadet College Wana, according to security sources on Tuesday.

According to security sources, five militants, including a suicide bomber, were gunned down during a precise and coordinated clearance operation.

They confirmed that no student or faculty member was injured in the incident, and a thorough search of the premises is now underway to detect and remove any landmines.

They further explained that the forces proceeded carefully due to the involvement of Afghan militants inside the college, prioritising the protection of the students and staff above all else.

The clearance effort will continue until every part of the compound is fully secured and the situation is completely stabilised.

The assault began when the attackers drove an explosives-laden vehicle into the main gate of the college, triggering a powerful blast that damaged the entrance and nearby structures.

Following the explosion, troops immediately launched a counter-operation, eliminating all terrorists and securing the entire compound. Bomb disposal teams later swept the area to ensure it was clear of any remaining explosives.

Officials confirmed that around 650 people, including 525 cadets, were present on campus at the time of the attack.

Owing to the forces’ timely and strategic response, no student or staff member was harmed. Sources said the operation was conducted with utmost caution to ensure the safety of everyone inside the premises.

Preliminary findings suggest that the attackers had links to Afghanistan and were reportedly in communication with their handlers across the border during the assault.

As per the sources, authorities believe the attack was intended to reinforce the presence of terrorist elements in the region and to challenge the state’s security apparatus. However, the decisive action of the forces successfully foiled their plan.

Local officials strongly condemned the incident, calling it a conspiracy to sabotage Pakistan’s peace and stability. They reaffirmed the country’s resolve to continue the fight against terrorism with full national unity and determination.

Security agencies have stated that the operation revealed involvement of Afghan-based militants seeking to interfere in Pakistan’s internal affairs.

In the aftermath of the attack, security across the region has been heightened, and investigations are underway to trace the network behind the plot.
