Film director Masood Pervaiz remembered on death anniversary

Lahore (Web Desk): The 24th death anniversary of the renowned film director Masood Pervaiz was observed on Monday.

Born in 1918 in Amritsar, Pervaiz moved to Pakistan following the Partition.

His directorial debut came with the 1950 film Beli, a cinematic milestone that not only marked his entry into the industry but also introduced the talents of Sabiha Khanum, Santosh Kumar, and music director Rashid Attre.

Pervaiz's brilliance was swiftly acknowledged, earning him the Presidential Award for Best Director in 1957 for his work on Intizar, a film that went on to win six Presidential Awards in total.

His skill in weaving compelling narratives and creating visually stunning films solidified his place in the annals of Pakistani cinema.

Among his most celebrated works were Heer Ranjha and Khak aur Khoon, both of which earned him the prestigious Nigar Award for Best Director.

Masood Pervaiz passed away on March 10, 2001, in Lahore, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to shape the cinematic landscape of Pakistan.
