Section 144 imposed, pillion riding banned in Rawalpindi to maintain law and order

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): To maintain law and order and ensure peace in the city, Section 144 has been imposed across Rawalpindi, while City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani on Thursday issued a stern warning that any violent demonstrations or acts disguised as protests would face strict action.

Accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations, SSP Investigation, divisional SPs, and SDPOs, the CPO visited several areas of the city to inspect ongoing security measures and directed officials to intensify vigilance. He instructed senior officers to personally oversee the arrangements throughout the garrison city and ensure complete enforcement of Section 144.

Emphasizing that lawlessness would not be tolerated, Hamdani said that any attempt to disturb peace, block traffic, or cause inconvenience to the public would be met with firm resistance. He noted that police forces had been stationed at all key points, while Safe City cameras and other surveillance systems were being actively utilized for continuous monitoring of the situation.

The CPO added that mobile patrols, as well as Dolphin and Elite Force teams, were conducting regular rounds to maintain law and order. Earlier, during a meeting held to assess the security landscape, he instructed officers to ensure coordination among all units and enforce the law with full authority.

Hamdani reaffirmed that the Rawalpindi Police were fully prepared to respond to any untoward incident, warning that no aggression against citizens, property, or police personnel would be permitted under any circumstances. He reiterated the department’s firm commitment to uphold the rule of law.

Meanwhile, in light of the prevailing security concerns in the twin cities, the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi announced that it would remain closed on Friday.
