WhatsApp to introduce new feature to block messages from unknown numbers

Washington  (Web Desk): WhatsApp is preparing to introduce a new feature that will help users block messages from unknown numbers, enhancing privacy on the platform.

According to websites that track WhatsApp updates, the app's developers are working on a feature that will prevent messages from unknown numbers from appearing directly in the chat. Instead, these messages will come in the form of a request, similar to how messages from unknown users appear as requests on Instagram.

The report suggests that this new feature will be added to WhatsApp’s privacy settings, and users will need to enable it by going into their settings and turning the feature on. Once activated, users will have more control over messages from unknown numbers, allowing them to decide whether they want to view or accept these messages.

Currently, WhatsApp already allows users to receive group invites from numbers not saved in their contact list. This new feature will extend that by letting users receive messages from unknown numbers as requests, giving them the choice to accept or decline them before they appear in their inbox.

WhatsApp experts are still working on this feature, and it is expected that testing will begin soon. Once it’s fully tested, the feature will be made available to users.
