California (Web Desk): WhatsApp Web Set for Major Upgrade as Custom Chat Themes Feature Under Testing
WhatsApp is preparing a significant update for its web version, introducing a long-awaited customization feature for users.
According to reports from WABetaInfo, the messaging platform is currently testing “custom chat themes” for WhatsApp Web. The feature is still under development but signals a major shift in how users will be able to personalize their web experience.
Traditionally, WhatsApp Web has focused mainly on basic messaging functions, with limited emphasis on interface personalization compared to its mobile app. However, this new update suggests a stronger push towards enhanced user experience and visual customization.
Once launched, the feature will allow users to modify chat bubble colors, wallpapers, and background settings directly within the web browser.
It is expected to be available through a dedicated “Chat Theme” section in WhatsApp Web settings, enabling users to apply different themes for individual conversations.
Reports also indicate that the “Chat Info” page may include quick-access theme controls, making it easier to customize specific chats.
WhatsApp is reportedly working on a library of around 40 to 50 different themes. These themes will remain private to each user, meaning changes will not be visible to other participants in the conversation.
