Karachi (Web Desk): Gold prices in Pakistan have seen a sharp decline on the second day of the business week.

A new report reveals that Pakistan's annual demand for gold ranges between 60 to 90 tons, valued at approximately 8 to 12 billion dollars. However, over 90% of this gold trade remains unreported and continues in the informal market.

According to the Competition Commission of Pakistan’s (CCP) research on the "Gold Market of Pakistan," around 70% of the country's gold demand is driven by weddings and social events.

Pakistan continues to rely on gold imports, with the country having imported 170 million dollars' worth of gold during fiscal year 2024. As of 2025, Pakistan’s official gold reserves have reached 64.76 tons, valued at nearly 9 billion dollars.

The report also highlights that the Reko Diq mining project has the potential to generate up to 74 billion dollars in revenue over the next 37 years. With current gold prices, this project could produce 1.79 million ounces of gold, which is valued at approximately 54 billion dollars.
