Islamabad (Web Desk): US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker held a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad to discuss the current situation in the Middle East.
The conversation also turned to the high-level talks scheduled to take place in the federal capital, with both sides reviewing the arrangements in detail.
Interior Minister Naqvi highlighted that US Vice President JD Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner will attend as special guests.
He emphasized that a thorough security plan has been put in place to ensure the safety of all foreign participants.
Natalie Baker expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s dedicated and sincere efforts in supporting the diplomatic process.
In a significant development, high-level delegations from the US and Iran are set to arrive in the federal capital tonight, raising expectations for a potential diplomatic breakthrough.
According to details released by the White House, US President Donald Trump has decided to dispatch a high-powered delegation to Pakistan to pursue direct negotiations with Iran.
The US delegation will be led by Vice President JD Vance and includes Middle East expert Steve Witkoff as well as former senior adviser Jared Kushner.
In preparation for the talks, a 23-member security and diplomatic support team from the US has already arrived in Islamabad.
On the other side, Iran has also attached considerable importance to the negotiations.
Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are likely to reach Islamabad tonight.
In a related development, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has taken Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif into confidence, assuring full cooperation in advancing the dialogue process.
According to the sources, the formal negotiations between the two sides are likely to commence on Saturday morning, with discussions expected to centre on key regional and global concerns.
