Interior Minister Naqvi inaugurates Islamabad Police Command and Control Centre

Islamabad (Web Desk): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Tuesday formally opened Islamabad Police’s newly developed Command, Control, Communication and Coordination Centre, saying the modern facility would give the Islamabad Inspector General (IG) direct access to the capital’s Safe City operations, police activities and law-and-order monitoring from his office.

Addressing the gathering, the interior minister said artificial intelligence (AI) and other modern technological solutions would play an important role in enhancing police efficiency, reducing response times and keeping track of personnel working in the field.

He said the centre had been created with the aim of bringing command and monitoring of the entire Islamabad Police force under one roof.

During his visit, Naqvi went through various sections of the newly inaugurated facility and examined the systems being used for monitoring and command.

Officials gave the minister a detailed briefing on the integrated setup, explaining how it connects Safe City operations with police activities, field-force monitoring, emergency response systems and artificial intelligence-based technology.

Naqvi said the centralised system would facilitate stronger coordination and communication between different police units. 
He added that quicker sharing of information would allow officials to take timely decisions and ensure a faster response whenever an incident or emergency occurs.

The minister said the initiative was aimed at making police command, supervision and accountability more effective through the adoption of advanced technology.

He further pointed out that the centre would provide authorities with the ability to monitor the performance of police personnel deployed in different areas of the capital more closely.

Speaking about the government’s priorities, Naqvi said safeguarding citizens, raising the standard of police performance and ensuring peace and order in Islamabad remained among the government’s foremost objectives.

The centre has been established as a centralised system to bring command, surveillance and coordination of police operations across Islamabad onto a single platform.

Naqvi said the new arrangement would bring greater efficiency to the police command system by improving oversight, coordination between various units, monitoring procedures and the process of making operational decisions.

With the facility now operational, Islamabad Police’s key systems, including the Safe City network, have been integrated into one central command and control setup.

The integrated mechanism will enable the Islamabad IG to receive live updates on developments across the capital and take immediate action by issuing directions whenever an emergency or security situation arises.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Inspector General of Islamabad Police, the Director General of Islamabad Police and other senior officials concerned.
