Islamabad (Web Desk): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad on Friday sent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President and former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi on 14-day judicial remand in the Judicial Complex attack case.
ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain presided the hearing of the case.
The court rejected the prosecution's request seeking 10-day physical remand of the PTI president and sent him to Adiala jail on judicial remand.
Elahi was brought in an armoured vehicle and produced before the court.
Parvez Elahi's lawyer Babar Awan implored the court to discharge the case against the former Punjab CM.
Awan maintained that his client's had been implicated in the case without any reason as there was no evidence against Elahi to establish his involvement in the terror case.
The PTI president was arrested on Tuesday September 1, shortly after his release from the National Accountability's (NAB) custody, despite the Lahore High Court (LHC) had explicitly restricted the authorities from arresting him.
Earlier,Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri of the Islamabad High Cour (IHC) suspended forme Punjab CM's detention under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance and directed his release.
It is pertinent to mention that Parvez Elahi has been arrested and detained repeatedly since the May 9 riots.
