Youth protest in India turns tense amid outcry against 'Godi Media'

New Delhi (Web Desk): A political protest in India, organized in support of the ruling party, turned tense after local youths raised strong slogans against sections of the Indian media, commonly referred to by critics as “Godi Media.” The protesters accused a large segment of the media of bias, selective reporting, and distorting facts in favor of political interests.

According to participants, mainstream media outlets have increasingly shifted focus away from pressing public concerns, particularly issues such as unemployment, inflation, and challenges faced by young people. They alleged that instead of highlighting public grievances, certain media channels are acting as “tools of propaganda” for political groups.

During the demonstration, some youths also blocked media personnel from covering the protest and shouted slogans branding them “anti-people” and “unreliable.”

The situation reflected growing frustration among sections of the youth over media credibility and political reporting in the country. The incident quickly gained attention on social media, where videos of the confrontation circulated widely and sparked further debate on press freedom and media accountability in India.

In a separate development, an alleged statement attributed to an Indian Army personnel surfaced on social media, raising concerns over corruption and increasing politicization within state institutions.

In the reported remarks, the officer expressed deep disappointment, claiming that even the armed forces were not immune to political influence. The statement further suggested that corruption was spreading within institutional structures, weakening professionalism and morale.

While the authenticity of the statement has not been independently verified, it has nonetheless triggered discussion online, particularly in the context of previous complaints raised by military personnel.

In recent years, Indian armed forces members have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over issues such as the quality of food provided in some facilities, treatment by senior officers, and policy changes like the Agnipath recruitment scheme.

These developments have contributed to an ongoing national debate in India regarding institutional transparency, governance, media independence, and the growing divide between public perception and state narratives.
