Pakistan’s key role in US-Iran ceasefire unsettles India’s Godi media

Islamabad/New Delhi (Web Desk): Pakistan’s role in helping advance the US–Iran ceasefire has sparked sharp reactions in sections of India’s media, with some commentators in what is often referred to as India’s “Godi media” described as being in an agitated and negative state over the development.

During a live television broadcast, former US diplomat Jeffrey Gunter strongly criticised an Indian anchor’s line of questioning, particularly a claim related to the safety of the US Vice President in Pakistan, and asserted that the US Vice President is completely safe in Pakistan while remarking that parts of the Indian media were behaving like schoolchildren.

He further stressed that the ceasefire is fundamentally linked to critical global concerns such as human lives, employment, and fuel prices, and warned against turning it into an India–Pakistan centred controversy.

Following the broadcast, the video clip quickly went viral across social media platforms. A large number of users praised Gunter for presenting what they described as a factual and balanced perspective.

Meanwhile, experts have suggested that segments of India’s “Godi media” are engaging in rhetoric that risks heightening regional tensions by politicising a sensitive peace process.

Observers also argue that, in its efforts to push anti-Pakistan narratives, the Modi government is increasingly facing diplomatic isolation, with the loud reactions from sections of the media being cited by analysts as evidence of this growing disconnect.
