Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Monday voiced her support for people battling brain tumors and offered prayers for their complete and speedy recovery on the occasion of World Brain Tumor Day.
In her message, she commended doctors, medical staff, and all individuals dedicated to caring for and assisting brain tumor patients.
The Punjab CM described brain tumors as a serious and often overlooked illness that can have devastating consequences if not identified and treated in time.
Maryam Nawaz stressed that increasing public awareness about brain tumors is critically important, as early recognition of symptoms and prompt treatment remain essential for improving patients’ chances of recovery and maintaining a healthy life.
She noted that the disease creates challenges not only for patients and healthcare providers but also places a heavy emotional and psychological burden on families who support their loved ones throughout the treatment process.
The Punjab CM said that awareness is the most effective tool in combating such silent diseases, adding that educating people about early warning signs, diagnosis, and available treatment options can play a significant role in reducing the impact of the illness and saving lives.
She further emphasized that timely detection and immediate medical care are crucial in preventing severe complications and lowering the death rate associated with brain tumors.
Highlighting the provincial government's healthcare initiatives, the Punjab CM said that Pakistan’s first public-sector Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital would offer renewed hope to patients suffering from brain tumors.
Maryam added that the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer would provide free treatment to cancer patients regardless of the stage of their illness.
She also stated that the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer and Research Centre is expected to become fully operational in the near future.
Under the “Healthy Punjab” programme, Maryam Nawaz said the provincial government is working to ensure that advanced treatment facilities for brain tumors and other neurological diseases are available in public hospitals across Punjab.
The Punjab CM added that continuous efforts are also being made to strengthen the expertise and capabilities of healthcare professionals so they can deliver better treatment and care to brain tumor patients.
