Karachi (Web Desk): The crescent moon of Zil Hajj has been sighted in Pakistan and the first day of Eid-ul-Adha 2024 in the country will fall on Monday, June 17, Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad announced on Friday evening.

The announcement was made after a meeting of the committee at the main offices of the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi with Maulana Azad.

“Testimonies of the moon of Zilhaj being sighted were received from several areas, including Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Mianwali and other parts of the country, he said.

“It has been unanimously decided that the first of Zilhaj … will fall on June 8, 2024 and Eidul Azha will be celebrated on June 17, 2024” Maulana Azad announced.

Meanwhile, parallel meetings were also held by Ruet-e-Hilal committees in all provincial capitals.

On Thursday, the Saudi authorities announced the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon of in the kingdom. The first day of Eid-ul-Adha 2024 in Saudi Arabia will fall on Sunday, June 16.
