Rawalpindi (Web Desk/Agencies): Peshawar Zalmi defeated Multan Sultans by 4 runs in a last-over thriller in the 9th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL 9) at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
Iftikhar Ahmed’s unbeaten half-century went in vain as Peshawar Zalmi edged over the table-toppers in the 21st match of the tournament.
After winning the toss, Peshawar Zalmi opted to bat first and scored 204 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Multan Sultans scored 200 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the allotted 20 0vers.
Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam and Saim Ayub gave the side a solid start courtesy of an 84-run opening partnership.
Azam scored 64 runs, Saeem Ayub 46, Haseebullah 31 and Asif Ali got out by scoring 11 runs. Romain Paul scored 23 runs and Amir Jamal scored 12 runs not out.
For Multan Sultan’s Osama Mir took 3 wickets and Chris Jordan 2 wickets.
Chasing the target, Multan Sultans’ Mohammad Rizwan scored 32 runs, Reese Hendricks 5, Devon Milan 19, Tayyab Tahir 26, Khush Dil Shah 11, Iftikhar Ahmed 60, Chris Jordan 30.
For Peshawar Zalmi, Mehran and Naveen had a wicket each and Aamir Jamal dismissed two batters.
