Naqvi visits Shanghai Urban Planning HQ, terms city’s development model a benchmark

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan's Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, recently visited the Shanghai Urban Planning Headquarters to gain insights into the city’s rapid development model, urban planning techniques, and innovative infrastructure.

Upon arrival, Minister Naqvi was warmly welcomed by Madam Chen, the Head of Shanghai’s Urban Planning Department, who guided the delegation through a comprehensive presentation on the city's expansion strategies and state-of-the-art urban systems. The minister was shown Shanghai's growth trajectory, its advanced municipal systems, and its role as a global leader in urban development.

The briefing included interactive displays, architectural models, and videos illustrating Shanghai's journey of transforming into one of the world's most rapidly expanding megacities.

Naqvi also got a close look at the model of Shanghai's futuristic stadium, which features cutting-edge amenities.

Expressing admiration for Shanghai’s modern, data-driven urban management system, the interior minister praised the city's innovative use of technology to optimize services and ensure the efficient operation of its metropolitan framework.

He stated that the pace at which Shanghai has developed serves as a prime example for cities around the globe.

“Shanghai’s exceptional progress is a model that all major cities can learn from,” Naqvi remarked. “We aim to apply similar strategies for the development of Islamabad and will take immediate measures to leverage Shanghai’s success in our own urban planning.”

During the visit, the minister also signed the visitors’ book, highlighting his appreciation for the city’s achievements.

The minister was accompanied by Federal Secretary Interior Muhammad Khurram Agha, Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and IG Islamabad Police Ali Nasir Rizvi during the visit.
