Lahore buzzes with Basant festivities as city gears up for colorful kite celebrations

Lahore (Web Desk): The excitement and enthusiasm for Basant, the traditional kite-flying festival, have reached their peak in Lahore. The city is vibrantly decorated as people prepare for the celebrations with great zeal.

Various areas across Lahore are adorned with colorful decorations, reflecting the festive spirit. Notably, two large kites installed at Liberty Chowk have become a striking feature, adding to the visual appeal of the city.

Additionally, multiple roads and streets have been decorated with colorful kites, creating a lively and joyous atmosphere. At several locations, large kite models have been placed, further enhancing the celebratory mood and symbolizing the joy and cultural significance of Basant.

Markets in Lahore are bustling with activity, especially the shops specializing in selling colorful kites, reels (guddo), and strings (dor). These shops have seen a significant increase in customers, as residents and visitors rush to buy supplies for kite flying.

The demand has surged so much that the government has allowed kite-related shopping to continue only until February 8. After this date, there will be a complete ban on the manufacturing and sale of kites to ensure safety and avoid accidents during the festival.

The lively atmosphere in the city, combined with the colorful displays and the excitement of kite flying, highlights how deeply Basant is embedded in Lahore’s cultural fabric.
