PM Shehbaz performs groundbreaking of Gujranwala Mass Transit System

Gujranwala (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated that his government is determined to work with unity and unwavering effort unity for Pakistan’s progress and development.

Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of a new mass transport system in Gujranwala, the premier commended Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for successfully launching a wide range of public-focused mega projects across the province.

PM Shehbaz stated that once the current term concludes, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), under Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, would secure “historic results” in the next general elections.

He said the recent elections in Punjab were a clear reflection of the people’s trust in the PML-N leadership. With a three-year mandate ahead, he emphasized the need for tireless service to the public under the guidance of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

PM Shehbaz voiced confidence that the ongoing pace of hard work and development initiatives would lead to encouraging nationwide results for the PML-N in the next polls.

“The journey of growth and prosperity has only just begun, and we will accelerate it. Through this dedication, PML-N will achieve remarkable success in the next election,” he remarked.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, federal and provincial ministers, parliamentarians, officials, and a large number of citizens.

Calling the mass transport project a major step toward public convenience, he said it would ease travel for the people of Gujranwala as well as surrounding areas.

He described the initiative as a gift from the Punjab chief minister, one that would transform the district and bring major relief to students, workers, patients, lawyers and daily commuters.

PM Shehbaz recalled that the PML-N’s development journey began back in 1985 during Nawaz Sharif’s government, at a time when the country was consumed by political slogans rather than progress.

Nawaz Sharif, he noted, changed that pattern by introducing road networks, health projects and economic reforms, setting a new political direction that carried into the 1988 elections and continues under the party’s leadership today.

He said history would highlight Nawaz Sharif’s achievements, including making Pakistan a nuclear state in 1998—an accomplishment he believed shaped the country’s position during the recent conflict with India in May.

He added that Punjab’s development drive was advancing rapidly under the energetic and youthful leadership of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who was carrying forward Nawaz Sharif’s legacy.

The prime minister praised projects such as the establishment of a cancer hospital, expansion of metro bus services, initiatives for a cleaner environment, housing for the homeless, support for flood-affected families and improvements in school infrastructure. 

These efforts, he said, spoke for themselves and could not be dismissed even by political opponents.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz outlined the major steps her government has taken and said the country had witnessed significant progress and development under the PML-N’s leadership.
