Pakistani students clinch medal haul at INSO-2025 

Islamabad (Web Desk): In a remarkable display of academic excellence, Pakistani students have earned international recognition by securing top positions at the 2nd International Nuclear Science Olympiad (INSO-2025), held in Kuala Lumpur.

The event, backed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), brought together bright young minds from 19 countries, including China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Türkiye, Indonesia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, and Qatar.

Standing out among the global participants, Pakistan’s team delivered an impressive performance. Muhammad Tayyab Bukhari, representing Beaconhouse School in Abbottabad, achieved the highest honour by winning the gold medal. Ammar Asad Warraich of Siddique Public School, Islamabad, earned the silver medal for his strong showing.

The country’s success was further amplified by bronze medals awarded to Rawah Javed, also from Siddique Public School, and Tatheer Aima Naqvi of Chenab College, Jhang.

Behind this success were the efforts of dedicated mentors Dr. Sajjad Tahir from the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS) and Dr. Muhammad Maqsood of the Directorate of Education under the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC). Their guidance played a key role in preparing the students for the highly competitive environment of the Olympiad.

This milestone reflects Pakistan’s increasing focus on nurturing scientific talent and enhancing its footprint in international academic forums.

With institutions like PIEAS and PAEC actively supporting the development of youth in science and technology, Pakistan continues to demonstrate its commitment to the peaceful and progressive uses of nuclear science in education, healthcare, agriculture, and industry.
