Peshawar (Web Desk): Prime Minister lauded has the security forces for providing enabling environment for completion of socio-economic development projects in the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the military’s media wing said on Friday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the premier said this during a visit to Peshawar Corps Headquarters along with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Farman Shah and Chief Minister Mehmood Khan also accompanied the prime minister.
Upon arrival, PM Imran laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument.
The ISPR statement said that the premier was briefed in detail about prevalent security situation, ongoing stabilisation operations, fencing along Pak-Afghan border and socio-economic development projects being undertaken in merged districts.
“The prime minister was also apprised of various contingencies planned to tackle the evolving security situation along Pak-Afghan International Border, ” the statement added.
The military’s media wing said that Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed satisfaction over the efficacy of Pakistan's comprehensive Border Management Regime and the pragmatic measures being taken to ensure effective border control and internal security.
“PM Imran also appreciated formation for its dedicated assistance to civil administration during COVID, Locust, anti-polio campaigns and tree plantation drive,” the ISPR statement added.
