Kargil War hero Karnal Sher Khan remembered on 25th martyrdom anniversary

Lahore (Web Desk): The 25th Shahadat (martyrdom) anniversary of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider is being observed today (Friday).

Captain Karnal Sher Khan was born in district Swabi of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in 1970. He is one of the ten recipients of country`s highest military award, Nishan-e-Haider.

During the Kargil conflict on the Line of Control (LoC) in 1999, he emerged as the symbol of courage and inflicted heavy losses on the Indian forces while defending the five strategic posts at the height of 17,000 feet in Gultray.

He was martyred on this day in 1999 gallantly defending the motherland.

Paying glowing tributes to Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed on his 25th martyrdom anniversary, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed showed exemplary gallantry and courage on the Kargil front which was even acknowledged by the enemy.

He said Sher Khan Shaheed set an example of loyalty to the motherland, sense of duty and fighting for the defense of the motherland without caring for his life, which will always be remembered.

PM Shehbaz said that Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed and his family are pride of the entire nation.
Alluding to the immense sacrifices rendered by the armed forces for the defense of the homeland, the prime minister said the entire nation salutes the unwavering commitment of the soldiers for the protection of the country.

The Armed Forces of Pakistan, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and Services Chiefs have paid a heartfelt tribute to the indomitable Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said that exemplary leadership and unwavering courage of Captain Karnal Sher Khan Shaheed inspire us to defend Pakistan at all costs.

“Captain Karnal Sher Khan's heroism in the Kargil War etched his name in history with bravery, unshakeable commitment, and unwavering loyalty. His martyrdom serves as a poignant reminder of the ultimate sacrifices made by the Armed Forces to safeguard our motherland,” the military’s media wing said.
