Istanbul: PM Shehbaz invites Turkish companies to expand investment in Pakistan's key sectors

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Turkish investors to expand investment in Pakistan by exploring opportunities across several high-potential sectors, including energy, mining, minerals, infrastructure, maritime services, logistics, information technology, telecommunications, manufacturing, agriculture and the government's privatisation programme.

Speaking during separate meetings with leading Turkish business groups in Istanbul, the prime minister said the enduring brotherly bond between Pakistan and Türkiye should now be reflected in a more robust economic partnership driven by trade and investment.

He stressed that both nations have significant potential to deepen commercial cooperation for mutual benefit.

PM Shehbaz highlighted Pakistan's strengthening economic outlook, improved macroeconomic stability and business-friendly policies, assuring investors that the government remains committed to maintaining a transparent, predictable and investment-friendly environment for both domestic and international companies.

He also underlined the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), noting that it continues to work alongside federal and provincial institutions to provide one-window facilitation and comprehensive support to strategic investors seeking to establish or expand operations in Pakistan.

During discussions with Çalik Holding, the prime minister pointed to the vast investment prospects available in the country's energy, infrastructure, information technology and privatisation sectors.

He welcomed the group's interest in increasing its footprint in Pakistan, saying its existing ventures through Çalik Enerji and GAP Insaat have already laid the groundwork for stronger future collaboration.

In a separate meeting with Albayrak Group, PM Shehbaz acknowledged the company's long-standing business engagement in Pakistan and encouraged it to further invest in maritime infrastructure, port development and logistics.

He commended the group's valuable contribution to enhancing Pakistan's transport links and infrastructure network.

The prime minister also met the president of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), where he praised the organization's efforts to strengthen commercial ties between the two countries.

He proposed the creation of a formal institutional framework to facilitate regular interaction between the private sectors of Pakistan and Türkiye and invited TOBB to bring a high-level business delegation to Pakistan to assess emerging investment opportunities firsthand.

Turkish business leaders welcomed Pakistan's ongoing economic reforms and acknowledged the government's investor-friendly approach.

Expressing confidence in the country's economic prospects, they reaffirmed their willingness to expand investments and forge long-term partnerships across a range of strategic industries, further reinforcing the growing economic relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye.
