COVID-19: Pakistan reports 6,377 new cases, 48 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,448,640 on Friday after 6,377 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 547,920 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 485,810 in Punjab, 199,195 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 34,634 in Balochistan, 130,373 in Islamabad, 10,837 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 39,894 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 64,121 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 9.94%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 29,372 with 42 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,317,385 after another 4,566 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Health Services has said that more than 180 million vaccine doses have been across the country administered so far.

“Pakistan has hit a new vaccination milestone—over 180 million vaccines have been administered,” the ministry said in a Twitter post.

“As the Omicron variant spreads, it is more important than ever to get yourself vaccinated, it added.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 388,961 million and death toll tops 5,733,072.
