Pakistan seeks immediate extradition of Shehzad Akbar, Adil Raja from UK

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday held a high-level meeting with British High Commissioner Jane Marriott, focusing on ways to strengthen Pakistan-United Kingdom (UK) relations, enhance security collaboration, and address issues of mutual concern.

A significant part of the discussion revolved around the return of Pakistanis living illegally in the UK.

In the meeting, documents for the extradition of Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja were handed over on behalf of the Government of Pakistan, urging the UK authorities to ensure their immediate repatriation.

The interior minister underlined that both individuals are wanted in Pakistan and called for their prompt handover.

He also presented substantial evidence concerning Pakistani nationals engaged in propaganda activities abroad.

While reiterating Pakistan’s support for freedom of expression, Naqvi highlighted that the spread of false information is a challenge faced by all nations.

“No country can allow its state or institutions to be defamed from abroad,” he stated firmly.

Emphasizing the importance of global cooperation, the minister welcomed the UK’s assistance in returning those involved in anti-Pakistan propaganda.

The Interior Ministry has already initiated the extradition process through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Federal Secretary Interior Mohammad Khurram Agha and other senior officials were present during the meeting.
