Batting first, Islamabad United posted 157 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.
The innings began strongly for the defending champions, with openers Sahibzada Farhan and Kyle Mayers forming a quick 58-run partnership. The momentum shifted further when Quetta captain Saud Shakeel removed the well-set Sahibzada Farhan, who top-scored with 39 off 24 deliveries, hitting two fours and four sixes.
At 77/4 in 9.5 overs, United found themselves under pressure. Mohammad Nawaz and Andries Gous attempted to stabilize the innings but managed only 14 runs together before Faheem returned to dismiss both Gous and Mohammad Shehzad, reducing United to 91/6 in 13 overs.
Nawaz then partnered with Haider Ali to put up a resilient 39-run stand for the seventh wicket. Haider contributed a quick 10 off 8 balls before falling to Khurram Shahzad in the 18th over.
Nawaz continued his attacking play but was dismissed by Kyle Jamieson in the final over. He remained United’s top scorer with a 34-ball 49, including one four and five sixes. He also shared a valuable 26-run partnership with Jason Holder for the eighth wicket.
