Karachi (Staff Report/Agencies): PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has sa that the most important aspect for electoral reforms is to stamp out the role of the establishment in elections.
“If the establishment has an active role in the electoral process then no matter how much legislation we do, the elections will remain controversial,” said PPP chairman while addressing press conference at Bilawal House Karachi on Monday.
“If the establishment could be kept at bay from the elections and if they could adopt an impartial and apolitical attitude, then there would be benefit to electoral reforms and reduction to rigging in elections,” he added.
Talking about NA-249 by-pollsf, Bilawal said if PML-N has solid proof of rigging, then it should contact the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Bilawal said that PML-N’s demand to hand over the ballot boxes to the army for recounting is “unreasonable,” adding that the PPP does not support such demands.
