Attock (Staff Report): At least three people were killed and several others were injured in a suicide attack on Thursday.
According to initial reports, a suicide attacker riding a motorcycle targeted a vehicle carrying civilian employees of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) on Attock’s Bisaal Road.
The attackers first opened fire on the vehicle before setting off the explosives strapped to his body.
The deceased include an employee of the PAEC and a passerby – a first-year student – identified as Habibur Rehman.
Security sources said the bus driver tried to overpower an attacker who blew himself up after firing shots at the bus.
Rescue teams rushed to the site of blast and started shifting the injured to nearby hospitals.
Security forces have cordoned off the area and initiated an investigation. Those wounded in the incident have been shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.
