ECC approves over Rs1 billion for various departments

Islamabad  (Web Desk): An important meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb. Several key decisions regarding the country’s economic and administrative matters were approved during the session.

According to the statement issued after the meeting, funds were allocated for various sectors including education, defense, and local government affairs.

The ECC also sought further clarification from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) regarding the provision of funds for local government elections in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, and Islamabad. The committee directed that a detailed summary for Rs455 million be submitted again for review.

Significant steps were approved to improve the education sector, including the approval of funds amounting to Rs1 billion for new programs and educational scholarships.

New educational schemes were also decided upon to bring the large number of out-of-school children into the mainstream.

Rs8.79 million allocated for the maintenance and repair of Frontier Constabulary (FC) helicopters in Balochistan.

Approval of funds for various development projects under the SDG program through the Capital Development Authority (CDA).

The committee also approved the transfer of confiscated relief goods, based on humanitarian grounds, from customs authorities to the Gilgit-Baltistan government.
