Reducing production cost of industrial goods govt's priority: PM Shehbaz 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif underlined that making industrial products more affordable for local businesses and consumers is a key focus of his government.

He made these remarks while presiding over a meeting to review the recommendations of a sub-working group tasked with proposing reforms in customs duties and the trade sector.

Describing the government’s recently approved National Tariff Policy as a landmark move, the Prime Minister said it would strengthen domestic industrial production and help businesses compete more effectively in both local and global markets.

PM Shehbaz also stressed the importance of rigorous oversight of customs duty collection at border points, especially for products involved in bilateral and transit trade with other countries.

During the meeting, members of the sub-working group, including representatives from the business community, presented their observations on challenges in customs and tax collection and shared recommendations for improvement.

The prime minister welcomed the suggestions and directed all relevant ministries and departments to ensure maximum support for domestic industries, while providing facilitation to businesses and investors to promote growth and competitiveness.
