Islamabad (Web Desk): An accountability court in Islamabad on Monday extended judicial remand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former premier Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi in the new Toshakhana reference case till September 16.
Accountability judge Nasir Jave conducted the hearing of reference pertaining to a jewellery set gifted by the Saudi crown prince.
The PTI founder and his wife, alongside their legal team, appeared in court. The court granted the remand extension after reviewing the arguments presented by both parties.
During today’s hearing, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor requested the judicial records of the old Toshakhana reference. However, the court dismissed the request after considering the arguments.
The court will also hear the bail applications of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on September 6, in connection with the new Toshakhana reference.
It is pertinent to mention that NAB arrested the PTI founder and his wife in a new Toshakhana reference on July 13.
In the new NAB reference, the couple is accused of purchasing a jewellery set from the Toshakhana and selling it. The set is valued at Rs75 million.
