PCB Chairman Naqvi briefs PM Shehbaz on security arrangements of PSL final

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held an important meeting with Federal Interior Minister and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, during which discussions were held on the country’s law and order situation and the arrangements for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) final scheduled for May 3.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi briefed the Prime Minister on the comprehensive security plan prepared for the PSL final at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

He said that strict security measures have been put in place in and around the stadium, with thousands of security personnel deployed to ensure the safety of players and spectators.

He further informed that a special traffic management plan has been devised to maintain smooth flow of traffic and avoid inconvenience to citizens.

Modern surveillance systems have also been installed inside and outside the stadium for continuous monitoring.

Mohsin Naqvi added that, on the Prime Minister’s instructions, spectators have been allowed to attend the final despite austerity measures, so that fans can enjoy the major cricket event.

In response, the Prime Minister directed that no inconvenience should be caused to spectators during entry and exit, and that essential facilities such as clean drinking water must be ensured.

During the meeting, the Interior Minister also updated the Prime Minister on the overall security situation in the country and ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

The Prime Minister appreciated the performance of law enforcement agencies and reiterated that public safety remains the government’s top priority.

It is worth mentioning that early matches of PSL 2026 were played without spectators due to austerity measures, but fans have now been allowed to attend the final on public demand.
