PSL 10: Islamabad United set 144-run target for Peshawar Zalmi

Lahore (Web Desk): In the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Islamabad United set a target of 144 runs for Peshawar Zalmi in the 22nd match of the tournament, played at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium.

After winning the toss, Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan opted to bat first. Openers Sahibzada Farhan and Kyle Mayers provided a solid start, putting on a 58-run partnership. However, the batting lineup faltered after Farhan’s dismissal.

Sahibzada Farhan scored 36 runs off 35 balls before falling to Ahmad Daniyal, while Kyle Mayers was dismissed for 18 runs by Mohammad Ali. The middle order couldn’t build momentum as Salman Ali Agha managed just 4 runs, Shadab Khan 15, Colin Munro 11, Saad Masood 1, and Azam Khan 8.

Imad Wasim was run out for 10 runs with the score at 124. Ben Whishaw, batting at number nine, played a crucial knock of 33* runs off 17 balls, helping United reach a total of 143. The last wicket to fall was Naseem Shah, who scored 1 run and was dismissed by Hussain Talat.

For Peshawar Zalmi, Mohammad Ali was the standout bowler with figures of 3 for 26 in his four overs. Luke Wood, Alzarri Joseph, Ahmad Daniyal, Saim Ayub, and Hussain Talat picked up one wicket each.

So far, Islamabad United have won five out of six matches and sit at the top of the points table, while Peshawar Zalmi have won only two of their six games and are placed fifth.
