Islamabad (Staff Report): Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday took suo motu notice of targeted killings of Hazara community members in Quetta.
The top judge directed all law enforcement agencies to present detailed reports on the sectarian violence, saying the people of the Hazar community were not filing a case in the court due to fear. The CJP also report has also been sought from Ministry of Interior.
Earlier, the leaders and representatives of the Hazara community have announced to disperse the sit-ins in various areas after Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa’ visit to the provincial capital.
On Tuesday, Bajwa arrived in Quetta, days after two people belonging to the Hazara community were shot dead in Qurtta.
“COAS arrived at Quetta for an update on security situation and meeting with notables of Hazara Community,” said Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) DG Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor in a tweet.
Earlier, Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal during his visit to the sit-in staged at Zarghoon Road near Balochistan Assembly and assured the community of security, and said that law enforcement agencies had been directed to apprehend the culprits behind the recent attacks.
The Hazara community members staged demonstrations at three separate locations of the city.
