Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has summoned a meeting of federal cabinet on Wednesday following a Donald Trump’s tweet in which he accused Pakistan of “lies and deceit”.
Earlier, the meeting was scheduled for today (Tuesday) and has been postponed till tomorrow due to other engagements of the prime minister.
Media reports suggest the recent statement of Donald Trump and other matters of national security and others would be discussed in the meeting. A future course of action of Pakistan would also be discussed in the meeting after Trump’s anti-Pakistan tweet.
The prime minister has also summoned meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) tomorrow (Wednesday) to talk about the matter.
The moot will be attended by foreign minister, interior minister, minister for defence, Services chiefs besides, senior civil and military officers, the PM office media wing said in a press release.
On Monday, Trump tweeted that the United States had foolishly given Pakistan over $33 billion in aid over the last 15 years.
In his tweet, Trump accused Pakistan of given nothing but lies and deceit thinking US leaders to be fools. “They give safe havens to the terrorists we hunt in Afghanistan, with little help. No more!”
