PM Shehbaz expresses grief over loss of lives due to cyclone in Sri Lanka

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has conveyed deep sorrow over the immense human loss and large-scale devastation brought about by Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka.

In a telephonic conversation with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the premier assured him that Pakistan stands shoulder to shoulder with the Sri Lankan people as they confront this difficult moment.

PM Shehbaz also reflected on Pakistan’s own experience with climate-driven disasters, noting how familiar such hardships are for his country.

He offered sincere condolences to the people and government of Sri Lanka, especially the families grieving loved ones lost to the catastrophic floods and landslides that have claimed hundreds of lives and forced thousands from their homes.

PM Shehbaz praised the determined and timely efforts of Sri Lankan officials, armed forces, and rescue workers who rushed to respond despite extremely challenging circumstances.

The prime minister informed the Sri Lankan President that Pakistan was dispatching urgent humanitarian aid to help communities affected by the cyclone and support the country’s recovery efforts.

President Dissanayake expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s solidarity and for the generous assistance being sent, noting that Pakistan was among the first nations to reach out after the disaster.

The two leaders, recalling their past interactions, reiterated their commitment to further strengthening cooperation between the two countries in all areas of shared interest.
