Instagram disables live feature for accounts with fewer than 1,000 followers

Islamabad (Web Desk): Instagram has introduced a new requirement for its live streaming feature, allowing only users with public accounts and a minimum of 1,000 followers to broadcast live videos.

Previously, the feature was available to all users regardless of follower count or account privacy settings. Now, users with fewer than 1,000 followers will be prevented from going live and will be notified accordingly.

Instagram stated that this change aims to improve the platform’s quality and functionality, making live streams more effective and of higher standard.

Social media experts suggest that this move is Instagram’s effort to reduce the costs of live streaming infrastructure and align with the standards set by other platforms like TikTok.

New and smaller creators have expressed disappointment over the decision and are calling on Instagram to reconsider the policy.
