Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan wins first-ever National Film Award

New Delhi (Web Desk): Renowned Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has been announced as a recipient of India's prestigious National Film Award for the first time in his illustrious 33-year-long career.

Although Khan began his acting journey in 1988 with India’s state-run television channel Doordarshan, his film debut came in 1992 with the movie Deewana. He quickly captivated audiences with his performance and went on to appear in seven films in his debut year, earning him the title "King of Bollywood."

Throughout his three-decade-long career, Shah Rukh Khan has delivered numerous hit and memorable films and has won many private and commercial awards. However, despite his massive success, he had never received a National Film Award from the Indian government—until now.

The Indian government has decided to honor Shah Rukh Khan with the Best Actor award for his powerful performance in the 2023 blockbuster Jawan. Actor Vikrant Massey will also be awarded Best Actor for his role in 12th Fail, while actress Rani Mukerji will receive the Best Actress award for her performance in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.

Following the official announcement, Shah Rukh Khan released a video message thanking the government for the recognition and expressing his pride in receiving the National Award. He called it a testament to his work being appreciated and extended gratitude to the entire Jawan team and his family.

Khan emphasized that the award is not the end of his career but rather a new beginning, promising fans even better performances in the future.

In the video, a bandage could be seen on his arm, and Khan revealed he is currently injured and unable to spread his arms in his signature pose. He confirmed, however, that he would soon return to the screen. Earlier reports had stated that the actor was injured during a film shoot and had traveled to the United States for treatment.
