Zardari felicitates president and people of Uzbekistan on Independence Day

Islamabad (Web Desk): President Asif Ali Zardari on Tuesday extended his warm greetings to Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan as the country celebrated its 35th Independence Day.

In a message to President Mirziyoyev, President Zardari underscored the importance Pakistan places on its longstanding and brotherly ties with Uzbekistan.

He said the relationship between the two nations is built on common religious values, cultural links, mutual confidence and a shared desire to promote peace, stability and prosperity across the region, according to a statement released by the Presidency.

President Zardari noted that relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan have continued to develop, with bilateral engagement becoming broader and more meaningful in several fields, including politics, trade, economy, connectivity, defence and people-to-people exchanges.

Referring to President Mirziyoyev’s state visit to Pakistan in February this year, Zardari said the visit had given renewed energy to the strategic partnership between the two countries.

He observed that the detailed discussions held by the two leaders and the agreements reached during the visit demonstrated the strong political resolve of both countries to turn their close and friendly relations into practical advantages for their peoples.

President Zardari expressed optimism that Pakistan and Uzbekistan would continue working together to deepen their partnership, improve regional links and expand economic collaboration.

He also reaffirmed his confidence that both countries would cooperate closely to advance their common objectives of peace and prosperity.
