PM Khaqan Abbasi inaugurates new Islamabad airport today

Islamabad (Staff Report): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday inaugurated the newly-built Islamabad International Airport, being a chief guest on the occasion, said a press release issued by the PM Office media wing.

According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) information, the airport will become completely operational from Thursday.

CAA said reported that the first incoming flight of Pakistan International Airlines from Karachi will land at the new airport at 11 am on the same day, while first flight of the national airline will depart for Karachi at 12:30 pm.

The airport has two runways each 3.5 kilometer long. It is the biggest international airport of the country in terms of landing and passenger handling facilities.

Moreover, the new international airport spreads over 19 square kilometres with 15 jetties including facilities to accommodate the world’s largest airplane.
