Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz inaugurates expanded arena at Wagah Border

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday unveiled a newly built arena at the Wagah border near Lahore, highlighting a major facelift of the iconic site that draws visitors from across the country.

The upgraded facility can now accommodate 25,000 spectators, a sharp rise from the earlier capacity of 7,500, making it possible for many more people to witness the daily flag-lowering ceremony.

The development project also includes several new additions at the Joint Check Post Wagah aimed at enhancing the overall experience for visitors.

These include a theme park that reflects the history of the subcontinent’s partition, featuring replicas of a railway station, displays of military equipment and a memorial dedicated to martyrs.

In addition, a Pakistan Museum has been established within the arena complex, presenting the nation’s journey through exhibits that trace its history and cultural identity from the struggle for independence to the present day.
