Over 25 injured as Islamabad Express derails near Kala Shah Kaku

Lahore (Web Desk): A tragic railway incident unfolded on Friday night when the Islamabad Express, traveling from Lahore to Rawalpindi, derailed near the Dekh Nullah area close to Kala Shah Kaku.

According to details, the derailment led to the overturning of multiple coaches and left more than 25 passengers injured.

The mishap took place under the cover of darkness, complicating rescue efforts as emergency teams raced against time to reach the injured.

District Officer of Rescue 1122 in Sheikhupura Rana Ijaz Ahmad said that while emergency response operations are underway, limited visibility is making the task more difficult for the teams on the ground.

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi took notice of the incident and instructed both the CEO of Pakistan Railways and the Divisional Superintendent to immediately arrive at the site and personally oversee the situation.

He ordered that rescue and relief operations be accelerated and directed that medical teams be dispatched without delay to provide urgent care to the wounded.

The railway minister has also called for an official investigation to determine the factors that led to the derailment and to hold those responsible accountable.
