Those arrested during PTI’s violent protests to face speedy trials: Tarar

Islamabad (Web Desk): Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar has emphatically stated that nobody will be allowed to disturb the country's peace.

In his televised remarks on Saturday, while discussing about the recent protests organized by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), revealed that an anti-riot force is being established.

He further emphasized that those involved in violent acts during the protests would face expedited trials and strong legal action.

The minister expressed regret over PTI’s attempts to fabricate a false narrative involving deceased bodies to deflect attention from their retreat from the protest site.

Tarar pointed out that the party had failed to produce any credible evidence of gunfire and clarified that hospitals like PIMS and Polyclinic had confirmed they had not received any bodies.

He criticized PTI for circulating outdated and AI-generated images on social media, branding them as fake, and announced the creation of a dedicated cell to verify such content.

The information minister also highlighted the violent behavior of protesters, who, he said, used weapons against security personnel and caused damage to public property.

He reaffirmed that the public had overwhelmingly rejected PTI’s protest call, stressing that a small group of individuals did not represent the views of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) or the nation as a whole.
Tarar also drew attention to the country’s positive economic trajectory, stressing that PTI’s disruptive tactics could not derail the progress.

Tarar noted the stock market’s record growth, remittances surpassing $8.8 billion, a reduction in inflation to 6.9%, and foreign exchange reserves reaching $11 billion.

Meanwhile, the information minister said that the resumption of European routes for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) would boost its revenue and support the airline’s eventual privatization.
