Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): The federal cabinet on Monday approved constitution of a seven-member ministerial committee to deliberate a policy relating to enforced disappearances.
According to a notification, Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar will dead the committee, and comprise Minister for Interior Rana Sanaullah Khan, Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri, Minister for Communications Asad Mahmood, Minister for Defence Production Israr Tareen, Minister for Maritime Affairs Faisal Subzwari and Minister for Science and Technology Agha Hassan Baloch.
The committee will be able to coopt eminent jurists, representatives of human rights organizations and any other member as it may deem appropriate. The committee will submit its recommendations to the federal cabinet for deliberation.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directing to issue notices to former president Pervez Musharraf and succeeding rulers in the case of missing persons.
