Middle East conflict: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia agree to remain in close coordination for peace in region

Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to closely coordinate efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.

This understanding was reached during a meeting in Islamabad on Sunday between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

The meeting was marked by warmth and cordiality, with Prime Minister Sharif extending a heartfelt welcome to the Saudi Foreign Minister.

He also conveyed his respectful regards to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and sent warm greetings to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

During the discussions, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast support for Saudi Arabia and praised the Kingdom’s remarkable restraint amid the ongoing crisis. He assured Prince Faisal that Pakistan would always stand shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia.

Recalling his recent interaction with the Crown Prince, including their meeting in Jeddah earlier this month, the premier also highlighted Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions, including initiatives to bring both the United States and Iran to the negotiating table.

Emphasizing the vital leadership role of Saudi Arabia within the Muslim world, PM Shehbaz stressed the importance of fostering unity among Islamic nations during this critical period.

The Saudi FM thanked the premier for the reception and shared Saudi Arabia’s latest perspective on the regional situation.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, National Security Advisor Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi assisted the prime minister.
