International Day of Zero Waste observed 

Islamabad (Web Desk): International Day of Zero Waste is being observed today (Sunday) across the globe including Pakistan.

This year's theme "Towards zero waste in fashion and textiles", focuses on the urgent need to take action to reduce the waste impact from the fashion and textile sector.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable future.

In his message on International Day of Zero, he said Pakistan is committed to promoting eco-friendly manufacturing, textile recycling, and ethical consumerism to reduce environmental impact.

The premier  said Plastic Waste Management Action Plan is eliminating single-use plastics, encouraging biodegradable alternatives, and expanding recycling efforts.

He urged local governments to strengthen waste collection and expand recycling facilities.

Meanwhile, Minister for Climate Change, Dr. Musadik Malik has called on the nation to unite in addressing the critical challenge of sustainable waste management.

In his message on International Zero Waste Day, he said Pakistan is committed to tackle the waste challenges through comprehensive and sustainable policies.

Dr. Musadik Malik reaffirmed the government's commitment to transitioning from a linear economy to a circular economy, where waste is minimized, and resources are kept in use for as long as possible.

The minister also highlighted the critical role of the private sector in fostering zero waste practices.
