Lahore (Web Desk): The Punjab government has decided to keep Section 144 in force across the province by extending the prohibition on flying drones in outdoor areas for another 30 days, citing prevailing security concerns.
According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the measure has been continued to strengthen public safety, uphold law and order, and ensure the protection of both public and private assets.
The spokesperson stated that the extension was formally notified by the Punjab Home Secretary under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.
The restrictions, however, do not cover the use of small drones at indoor functions held in halls and marquees. Event organisers will remain accountable for ensuring that such drones are operated safely and in compliance with the law within the event premises.
The ban also excludes intelligence agencies and law enforcement institutions performing official duties.
Meanwhile, the Home Department has directed district administrations and police authorities throughout Punjab to strictly enforce the directives, reaffirming that protecting the public and preserving law and order continue to be among the government's foremost priorities.
