PTA warns users to link WhatsApp with active SIM

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has urged mobile users to immediately ensure that their WhatsApp number is active and linked with a registered SIM card.

According to a private news channel, PTA has warned that access to WhatsApp accounts operating on inactive, blocked, deactivated, or unregistered SIMs may soon be restricted.

The authority stated that for the protection of WhatsApp accounts, contacts, messages, and digital identity, it is essential that the WhatsApp number remains linked to an active and properly registered SIM.

PTA further advised users to verify without delay that their WhatsApp number is connected to a working SIM. If the current SIM has become inactive, users should immediately transfer their WhatsApp account to an active and verified SIM.

The authority also recommended that users visit the nearest franchise or customer service center if needed, where biometric verification and SIM authentication can be completed.

PTA cautioned users not to wait for sudden account logouts, emphasizing that a mobile number is not just a means of communication but also a key part of one’s digital identity.
