NDMA weather advisory: Rain, thunderstorms across parts of Pakistan from August 30

Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has warned of unsettled weather across parts of the country from August 30 to September 4, with thunderstorms, strong winds and rain expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.

Some areas could experience heavy showers, while much of Punjab and KP are likely to continue experiencing hot and humid conditions alongside an increase in daytime temperatures.

The NDMA has shared the forecast with the relevant government departments and instructed them to stay vigilant in anticipation of the changing weather.

Travellers and tourists have also been urged to consult weather updates before leaving for their destinations.

Several parts of Punjab may see thunderstorms accompanied by rain and powerful winds during the forecast period, with heavy rainfall possible at isolated locations.

Murree, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Khushab, Sargodha and Gujrat are among the areas where rain is expected.

Weather activity may also extend to Sialkot, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Narowal, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Lahore, Kasur, Okara and nearby localities.

At the same time, the majority of Punjab is likely to remain warm and humid, while daytime temperatures are expected to move upward.

A similar pattern has been predicted for KP, where thunderstorms, gusty winds and rainfall could occur in different areas. Isolated places may receive particularly heavy showers.

Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner and Mansehra are expected to receive rain. Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Kurram, Waziristan and adjoining areas may also be affected by rainfall.

Despite the expected showers, most parts of KP are likely to remain hot and humid, with daytime temperatures forecast to rise.

Thunderstorms, strong winds and rain are also anticipated in a number of areas across Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, where isolated locations could receive heavy rainfall.

Rain is likely in Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Ghizer, Diamer, Astore, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Poonch, Bagh, Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimber.

Daytime temperatures in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir are also expected to increase, with many areas likely to experience hot and humid weather.

In Sindh, meanwhile, most areas are forecast to remain hot and humid, while daytime temperatures could rise further.

The NDMA has once again asked all concerned departments to stay on alert and make the necessary preparations in view of the anticipated weather conditions.

Those planning to travel have been advised to obtain the latest weather information before setting out.

Tourists and travellers can also use the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert mobile application to receive weather-related guidance and updates.

The authority has additionally advised citizens to contact 911 for help if they encounter an emergency involving a possible flood.
